We started the walk this week from Stockgrove county park, please see this link to find the car park on Google maps. The car park is free of charge but they ask for £1 donation to maintain it. You will find toilets and a small cafe there for your needs. The 260 acres were opened to the public in 1972 and you will find it very busy on the weekend, and the carpark is always full. There is a small lake just near to the car park with a boating platform that was used many years ago. On the lake you will find loads of wildfowl and you hopefully will see Mandarin ducks if you are lucky. The woodland around the lake is rich with wildlife, its full of squirrels and we saw some Woodpeckers.

We arrived in the village of Heath & Reach (Os Grid SP925280), and had a small look around. Did not see a lot to bring me back here I'm afraid, but here are a few details for you. I had heard there was an old Roman settlement here that was found in 1971and also there is an old pump house that you can see in the picture to the right. As i said thats about it for this place.
We used the Greensand ridge walk, that took us towards the Grand Union canal near Old linslade manor, this is a Grade ii listed building however i think its now been converted into Flats. The walk along the grand union took us to a couple of excellent Ale houses, I have given these pubs a bit on my site because they looked nice and i have heard that the food is excellent. We finally come off the Canal near the village of Stoke Hammond and headed towards Papermill farm and up Partridge Hill. The final walk took us through Oak wood and then finally back home. It was not a bad walk and the weather was great and the tracks dry. Try the walk with a stop at the following pubs below for added enjoyment.
