ILmington and the county Top of warwickshire Ebrington Hill

8.8mile hill walk - Moderate going - 22/09/2014

Todays walk took us to the Cotswolds again, and to the county top of Warwickshire Ebrington hill that stands at 261m. It was a dreadful day for hill walking and early morning saw very high humidity that made for a hot sticky walk, it did ease off a little as the day went on but a high temperature made it hard work. The start of the walk is in the village of Ilmington a small village
and civil parish about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north-west of Shipston-on-Stour and 8 miles (13 km) south of Stratford-on-Avon[1] in the Cotswolds (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) in Warwickshire, England. Ilmington is the highest village in Warwickshire[2] and is at the foot of the Ilmington Downs. There are a couple of pubs within the village but we never had time to try a pint as we left early, however they looked nice and hopefully we will revisit soon.

The terrain is very up and down as you make your way across the downs but the tracks were all well marked and also you will have a small amount of road walking to do. A large manor house called Foxcote house (
map) is on the route however I cannot find out much about it other than its now a riding stables and was built in the 18th Century.
