A great trip with lovely weather into the North Western fells again. We now have only six to climb before we finish A Wainwrights book 6, we should do it hopefully by july this year weather permitting. We bagged 7 fells this trip and you will find a description in the walks below separated into three sections. many thanks for looking.

Castle Crag

LA fine 5.5 mile walk and when the weather is fine one of the best views into Borrrowdale. Castle crag stands at 290m in the North Western fells and is covered by Wainwright’s book number 6 - and you will need OS map OL4 to help you along the route. The route is not hard and there is nothing challenging along the way

Knott Rig & Ard Crags

h the weather Forecast looking grim later in the day we needed a good three hour hike to get another 2 fells climbed. We decided to climb Knott rig and Ard Crag from Newlands Hause (map). The path is easy to follow from the small car park just head North along the well defined path and make your way to the summit at 556 m

The Rannerdale Horseshoe

The Rannerdale Horseshoe was the next walk on the list, and again we had glorious sunshine start to finish. The main peak of this walk is Grasmoor at 857m and is the largest peak in book 6 the North Western fells. You cannot miss this fell as its massive peak dwarfs the rest to the east of Crummock water

A Small Video below we took on the trip
