Ling Fell

The walk started from the Pheasant Inn a really great looking ale house and Hotel, we had a pint in here when we done the walk and i would recommend it, a large selection of real ales went down a treat. Sail fell stands at 359m that's 1170ft and is one of the smallest wainrights and is covered in book six, the route was a bit of a circle with a few double backs, the route followed the Wythop mill ascent. A nice ascent on well trodden paths with no scree just grass, and not boggy made for a good climb to the top. The top is a grassy pasture with great views looking over Skiddaw, with the top not the usual point but a long flat ridge. By this time the wind was horrendous and you could lean into it and the rain was driving into us. We decided to head down and made a decision to climb the next fell Ling Fell
Well at the bottom we looked up and saw the Trig point sitting on the summit of Ling Fell, the wind and rain had eased a little so we decided tp start climbing again and make our way to the top. An easy walk again with no problems only the weather and wind that increased as we made our way to the top. The summit stands at 373m 1224ft. We saw few people on this trip with nobody on the summits and it made for a peaceful walk indeed. At the bottom we were soaked and after getting dry made it to the Inn for refreshment.
