Whiteside Fell

This fell is a hard slog and the path involves very loose scree and a fair bit of rock to get over and around, therefore I mark this walk as hard. Parking can easily be found at Lanthwaite Green farm and its free, however get there early to secure a place and always remove valuables from your car. Wainwrights guide was used to find a nice way up the fell and the path via Whin Ben was chosen as the best path available . Whiteside stands at 707m and lays right at the end of Crummock water witht Grassmoor next to it to the North with Gasgale Gill and the Liza beck in-between them, with the views into this valley truly stunning. A nice foot bridge gets you over Lisa beck and then you have to start making your way over Whin Ben, this is steep and very rocky with Scree thrown in for good measure its certainly hard going but you are soon over it. The steepness ease up after this section for a while as you head towards Gasgale Crags and again loads more Scree and rock thrown in and I found this bit slightly harder than Whin Ben . The top of the fell offers great views and towards the east a nice ridge route to Hopegill Head and from there you have various paths to take. A great fell walk this one very rocky in places but a good hard walk .
