The White Lion Pub - Wicken 1883

The White lion Public house lies in the small village of Wicken about one and a half miles from Deanshanger. Over the years we have had a collection of Canvins living in the village (one still there today) who at one point used to run the White lion Pub. The following article Steven found was for the sale of the Public house in 1883 which is interesting because it lists most of the workings of the pub including a Brewing house and copper Pump etc. It also lists a games room that is no longer there and I can remember this when we used to play pool as young lads back in the good old days. For the record in the 80’s I could get served in there at 15 years old and a pint of what I think was called triple crown was just 52p a pint. Please have a look at the article below. I would love to know how much it went for and if anybody has any details please email me them and I will include them into the site.
