Ivinghoe beacon walk

Distance 7.4 Miles Total Ascent 793ft

Great weather for march made this a great little trek in the Chilterns, not a bad route with some moderate hills to climb but good footpaths. A little sticky under foot in the wet due to the chalk earth.

Ivinghoe Beacon

Ivinghoe Beacon Summit

A great walk around Ivinghoe beacon. We parked in the car park and then made our way to the beacon summit, the wind was very strong as per normal for this place. We then went along Gallows hill and down into the wood called the Coombe, in the wood is a steep staircase

At the top of the stairs we then made our way to clipper down with a great view overlooking the valley below.

From clipper down we make our way along the Ridgeway walk up to Steps hill

At the bottom of the hill is a Gorge that runs for some distance. We never went down but you can see the chalk path in the photo above. On the next visit to the hills we will go down and have a good look at it in more detail
