On this trip again we set off from the village of Edale, crossing Grinds brook we headed for Jaggers clough. This is an old pack horse track that leads straight onto the kinder plateau. I had a look at this route and it looked a bit grim, but without climbing it I cannot really comment. The route we took was on the remains of the old roman road that leads alongside Woodlands valley. Again a lot of restoration work has been done to this path, and on our last visit we watched some people making the roman road as the Romans would have done it. The path after this took us to the railway line which we crossed via Townhead bridge

After a short trip to the village of Hope for some liquid refreshment, we then made a start on the long slog to the Lose hill summit. This, I must say, is a very steep slope and it took us a while to reach the summit at 476m. We sat down at the top for a break and to suss out some climbs for later in the year. We found some interesting hills and Tors over to the south, near the village of Castleton. From the top we headed west, and went to the top of Back Tor . This is a strange hill and to see it as its best you must look back at it once you have gone past it. After this part we went over the peaks of Hollins cross and again to Mam Tor. From the top of the Tor we headed down the North side and arrived again in the village of Edale. This walk was one of the best we have done, the weather was very hot and it made it hard work but was worth it. I think we have a couple of trips planned for this area and we both hope to be back soon. Please make sure you have a look at our photos, video, and GPS data so you can plan your own trips.
