This hill is a very striking image whilst driving around the Telford area, we had done little research on it but it looked climbable and just had to be done. Had my OS maps on me and the top was at 407m so Gail & myself started the walk from a small car park at the bottom. The Wrekin can be clearly seen from the M54 and the earliest recording of the name the Wrekin was in a charter dated 855. Near the top there is some info on a large hill fort that once stood on this prominent hill. The Summit is very flat with a small trig point and some plaque that gives information on the surrounding hills in the distance. The path up to the top is excellent and the council has spent some money on maintaining the pathways. Please goto my Garmin Gps log for a detailed map of the walk, out of interest the hill is the 8th highest point in shropshire.
